Girl in Red Velvet Margaret James
Publisher Choc-Lit
Will loving two men tear your heart apart?
It’s the 1960s and Lily Denham is about to begin her studies at Oxford University.
On her first day she meets Harry Gale and Max Farley, two fellow undergraduates who are both full of mischievous charm. The three of them become firm great friends and enjoy exploring everything Oxford has to offer, from riotous parties to punting up the river on sunny afternoons.
However, something threatens to disrupt the fun, because Lily soon realises she’s falling for both of her new-found friends, men who might offer her two very different futures – but who will she pick? Harry is generous and kind, reliable and trustworthy. Max embodies the spirit of the sixties; adventurous and rebellious, but possibly a little bit dangerous as well.
As university ends and Lily struggles to make her mark on the vibrant fashion scene, she must make a decision. But she soon becomes aware that the wrong decision could have devastating consequences for her own future and for Max’s and Harry’s futures, too …
MY REVIEW
I won my copy through a Choc-Lit competition. Previously back in April 2013, I read The Wedding Diary, giving it 5 stars on goodreads. I did say in that review that I would like to read more books by Margaret James and more books by Choc-Lit.
Girl in Red Velvet also gets a huge 5 stars. I believed in the situation of of lily becoming friends with two fellows. Sometimes a young lady can have two male friends in her life and like both of them without knowing which one to choose.
Lily Denham at Oxford University meets two nice fellow undergraduates, Harry Gale and Max Farley, who take her to the pub where she drinks beer for the first time and gets drunk. Lily wore a scarlet dress that she made herself with Harry and Max who nicknamed her as the Red Queen. Gradually falling in love with both young men, the question is which one will she marry ? This really is a lovely read and strongly recommend it.
