MY SISTER THE SERIAL KILLER BY OYINKAN BRAITHWAITE
Hardback published by Atlantic Books
Excellent A must buy, must read
Femi makes three you know. Three and they label you a serial killer.
When Korede’s dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what’s expected of her bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This’ll be the third boyfriend Ayoola dispatched in self defence and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away. She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always come first. Until, that is, Ayoola starts dating a doctor at the hospital where Korede works as a nurse. Korede’s long been in love with him, and isn’t prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back but to save one would mean sacrificing the other.
Taking wicked aim at male impropriety and celebrating the bright spirit of sisterhood, My Sister, the Serial Killer is a murderously good novel of moral dilemmas, family and fatalities.
MY REVIEW
My Sister The Serial Killer is one hundred percent excellent, being a must buy, must read. I’m extremely happy to say that this thriller came top of my list for one of the most page turning thrillers that I have read in 2018. I have to say that it’s unbelievable that this book is Oyinkan Braithwaite who is a Nigerian author first novel. I’m now following Oyinkan so I can keep up with the next instalment. What makes this the book of the year for me is that it’s set in a different part of the world in Lagos Nigeria. What I found is that every single character that appears is interesting to read about. Don’t be put off by knowing early on in the story that Ayoola kills her boyfriends, here in this story is the most interesting part is that her sister Korede is a dream of a sister, she goes out of her way to help her younger sister cover her tracks. Now both are involved, will they both get away it? Loved every second of this thriller so for me it’s a story I won’t be forgetting. My strong advice is to read this book in the year in 2019.
