MY REVIEW
This is my first book that I have read by Lia Louis. Dear Emmie Blue 🎈 is absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed every word. This is definitely one Story I will never forget. Lia Louis has written a about a very unusual theme, that tugs at the heart ❤️ rooting for the best for Emmie Blue.
My favourite line was the first line: I was ready for him to ask me. So ready I was Practically beaming.
Once I read this very first line it set me in full swing that I couldn’t put the book down. I can see that Dear Emmie Blue is going to be a big seller with everyone talking about this beautiful love story, that we all love to escape to.
To my surprise Emmie Blue used to live in Ramsgate, that I don’t live far from.
When Emmie Blue set off her ballon with a message inside,it made its way over the ocean over 100 miles away. It was 16 year old Lucas Moreau who lives in Le Touquet who found her ballon on a beach near Boulogne-sur-Mer, and from that moment their friendship blossomed.
Now Emmie is thirty, she and Lucas have been best friends for fourteen years, and now has come the time when Emmie wants nothing more than for Lucas to kiss her and become boyfriend and girlfriend.
My heart sunk, at a French restaurant, Lucas tells Emmie he is getting married to a woman he loves. A woman that isn’t Emmie and he wants Emmie to be his best woman. Emmie agreed to be Lucas best woman at his wedding because she loves him. He is her best friend. What makes it really sad is that Lucas is her only best friend. The boy who found her ballon fourteen years ago.
Although Emmie is heartbroken and keeps crying that Lucas is marrying another woman and not her. Over the last thirteen years they had a special best friend relationship where they talked about everything, but now Emmie feels very sad she never thought something would finally come between them both. I felt really sorry for Emmie Blue, with Lucas wedding to his wife to be to be and a broken heart in the mix.
And to make matters worse for Emmie Rosie her work mate thinks that Elliot will propose to her.
Throughout the storyline it weaves it’s way through Emmie school days and parents, with issues here with another heartbreaking part of Emmie’s life. Nothing seems to go quite right for Emmie Blue, that it made feel really sorry for her.
Why I 100% recommend Dear Emmie Blue 🎈 is that it just what it says on the front cover Funny, clever and romantic. You will all love it!
I would like to thank Alex Layt for sending me an early proof paperback and for inviting me to be part of the blog tour today.
