A 15-year-old schoolboy is accused of the murder of one of his teachers. His lawyers, the guarded veteran, Judith, and the energetic young solicitor, Constance, begin a desperate pursuit of the truth, revealing uncomfortable secrets about the teacher and the school. But Judith has her own secrets which she risks exposing when it is announced that a new lie-detecting device, nicknamed Pinocchio, will be used during the trial. And is the accused, a troubled boy who loves challenges, trying to help them or not?

I reviewed The Pinocchio Brief when it was first released. I reviewed it on a website that I used to have, then changed my website name to book read 2 day.

I really can’t sing loud enough about The Pinocchio Brief. If you love thrillers like I do then The Pinocchio Brief should be your next big read.

The Pinocchio Brief is so good that it should be snapped up by a film company.

I was honestly absolutely glued this gripping courtroom thriller. I really found the whole story utterly convincing, with characters that Abi Silver spins to make very believable.

This story really brought it home to me some of the things that have happened in real-life in the past and will most very sadly go on happening in the future as I know that sometimes we may of heard very sad news about or a pupil that gets stabbed in a school, in and rare cases a teacher.

So What’s The Story About?

Young Raymond Maynard has a very high IQ in science and Maths, who is accused of stabbing his teacher to death at his all boys boarding school.

Lawyers believe that Raymond didn’t kill his teacher. His lawyer and teachers will try to piece together how the teacher was stabbed to death and most importantly why?

When Raymond goes to court to give evidence of his side of the events of his teacher being stabbed to death is recorded by Pinocchio the lie detector. And this is how the book got its title The Pinocchio Brief.

I give my full praise to Abi Silver for taking such a troubled story with adding twists and turns making it addictive from beginning to the very end.

I highly recommend The Pinocchio Brief, as it kept me guessing the whole way through did Ray with a very high IQ kill his teacher or did someone else?

ABOUT AUTHOR ABI SILVER

I cannot remember a time when I was not writing stories. Growing up with a house full of books (my parents were teachers), I was inspired from an early age to believe I could join the ranks of my heroes.
I grew up in Leeds and studied in Cambridge before settling down to a legal career in London. I travelled extensively through Asia, South America and Australia and lived in Israel. Being an ‘outsider’ (as you frequently are when you travel or live overseas) makes you a wonderful people-watcher and it certainly informed my writing. I now live in Hertfordshire with my husband and three sons.
