7 summers ago: They gets far too drunk and narrowly avoid getting matching tattoos in New Orleans.
2 summers ago: it all goes wrong.
This summer: poppy asks Alex to join her n one last trip. A trip that will determine the rest of their lives.
MY REVIEW
Oh wow! What a wonderful page-turning story, that left me thinking about it for days after I finished reading it!
I have read Beach Read by Emily Henry, but, You and Me on Vacation is definitely my favourite.
Why I loved You and Me on Vacation is that I found the story bounced along between two main loveable characters Poppy Wright and Alex Nilsen, that I was willing myself for them to be together forever. But as I turned the pages funny and endlessly difficult things go horribly wrong, when they are on vaccinations together.
Poppy and Alex first met at college, but it wasn’t a good start in fact they hated each other. I can honestly say I’ve never been a friend of someone that I had a bad first impression of them.
The story weaves between 12 summers ago when poppy and Alex hate each other. Until everything changes when they share a ride home from their college together.
I was endlessly fascinated how the story skips from the prologue of five summers ago, then forward to This summer. Then Twelve summers ago on vacation start, bringing each chapter down year by year. But in between each summer ago, we are wonderful brought to the present time of This Summer when they take one last vacation together.
I loved reading on, as I followed every moment when Poppy and Alex start going on these wonderful vacations together. It’s quite funny with Alex who comes across with phobias and a bit dreary, with a sad puppy face, and with no expression if he is love with poppy or not. But Poppy is such fun, and roaring full of life, and with the kindness heart, as she ends up caring for Alex in an extraordinary mishap that he has.
You and Me on vacation is a beautiful love story for fans of When Harry Met Sally and One Day. Get ready to travel the world, snort with laughter and most of all lose your heart to poppy and Alex.
