This is the story of one small animal’s quest to save the world.
When Little Hare discovers a silver- coloured calf, born between the light of the full moon, he is determined to protect her. Because animals legend predicts that if anything happens to this mooncalf, a great Terribleness will come.
But keeping danger at bay is easier said than done, and soon Little-Hair realises that he’ll need every creature’s help if he has any hope of keeping Mooncalf safe.
MY REVIEW
The WildBefore is a beautiful book about a hare named Little-Hare that has left the valley where he was born a whole moon ago in Dandelion Hill.
Little-Hare has urgent news from the wild from Dandelion Hill, in the south. In order to deliver his urgent news he has to travel to the north in the Wild. But Little-Hare needs to be careful as he reaches the north in the wild he is circled by some hungry wolves. Little-Hare doesn’t seem that frightened of them as he refuses to tell them his urgent news and insists he is under strict orders to the Wildness only. The wolves are unhappytelling Little-Hare that they are the Guardians of wild and they decidewho can speak to their Wildness.
In Old Farm in Bristly Hedgeduring the snow with ice frosted days food was hard to find for Little-Hare Run–Hare, Bite-Hare. An amazing thing happens when Little-Hare finds a calf unlike any calf he had ever seen, naming the calf Mooncalf.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Wild Before by Piers Torday who has written my favourite story with lovely creative animals, it’s honestly an escape to an imagery adventure with Hares that in my view is the next king of children’s animal tales just like children’s author Ronald Dahl.
This book is published by Hachette Children’s Group who is the largest children’s publisher in the UK, with an excellent track record in creating bestselling and award-winning books for children. The group aims to cater for every child, with baby and pre-school books, and picture books.
