How to kill your best friend Lexie Elliott

HOW TO KILL YOUR BEST FRIEND BY LEXIE ELLIOTT HARDBACK PUBLISHED BY CORVUS 2ND SEPTEMBER 2021

Georgie, Lissa and Bronwyn have been best friends since they met on their college swimming team. Now Lissa is dead – drowned off the coast of the remote island where her second husband owns a luxury resort. But could a star open-water swimmer really have drowned? Or is something more sinister going on?

Brought together for Lissa’s memorial, Georgie, Bron, Lissa’s grieving husband and their friends find themselves questioning the circumstances around Lissa’s death – and each other. As the weather turns ominous, trapping the guests on the island, it slowly dawns on them that Lissa’s death was only the beginning. Nobody knows who they can trust. Or if they’ll make it off the island alive…

My review

This book isn’t for me I have read other books by the author Lexie Elliott and love them, I classed the other books as page turners. But How to Kill Your best Friend doesn’t live up to all other books by Lexie Elliott that I have read.

Unfortunately I didn’t get into this story at all and had to give up after chapter three. I didn’t warm to any of the characters this time round, where as in previous books I loved every character.

The story is interwoven by Bronwyn and Georgia who are best friends, since they met on their college swimming team. The last time the gang went on a regular swimming holiday, Lissa went for a swim all by herself, and went missing and never came back, she was feared drowned.

Now the gang have met up for Lissa’s memorial.

The question is was it an accident how Lissa drowned or was it murder?

Although this story wasn’t my cuppa of tea, What I did like was the cover with the water on the front matching what the story is about.

About the author

Lexie Elliott has been writing for as long as she can remember, but she began to focus on it more seriously after she lost her banking job in 2009 due to the Global Financial Crisis. After some success in short story competitions, she began planning a novel.

With two kids and a (new) job, it took some time for that novel to move from her head to the page, but the result was The French Girl, which was published by Berkley in February 2018 – available on Amazon now! This was followed by The Missing Years in 2019 and How To Kill Your Best Friend in 2021.

She is now working on her fourth novel.

When she’s not writing, Lexie can be found running, swimming or cycling whilst thinking about writing. In 2007 she swam the English Channel solo. She won’t be doing that again. In 2015 she ran 100km, raising money for Alzheimer Scotland. She won’t be doing that again either. But the odd triathlon or marathon isn’t out of the question.
