Dublin student life is ending for Sophie and her friends. They’ve got everything figured out, and Sophie feels left behind as they all start to go their separate ways. Then, at a party, what was already unstable completely falls apart and Sophie finds herself obsessively scrolling social media, waiting for something anything to happen.

None of This is Serious is about uncertainty and absurdity of being alive today. It’s about balancing the real world with the online, and the vulnerabilities in yourself and your relationships. At its heart, this is a novel about the friendships strong enough to withstand anything.

MY REVIEW

None of This is Serious, is a mixture of fantasy, with a flair of contemporary in how the media is very addictive.

Grace and Sophie are best friends. Grace invites Sophie to her party, there’s a lot of drinking, smoking and talking about boys.

Every one at the the party are out on the deck with all of their phones filming and watching what looked like a shooting star, but the purple light feels too alien to Sophie.

By morning it actually turns out to be a crack in the sky. Social media are calling it a climax catastrophe a hoax, the worst disaster in a hundred years.

Sophie spends too much time texting, and on Instagram and Twitter flicking through stories about Grace’s party where Sophie doesn’t remember drinking shots, or how she got home. All Sophie remembered was how her and Dan were looking at the crack in sky. This crack that has appeared suddenly in the sky, worries the life out of Sophie she thinks it will swallow the world whole.

This story shows how Sophie is addicted to using her mobile phones for texting, Twitter and instagram.
