Elle and her friends are back! This time, they’ll be leaping into the past, the present and the future to safeguard the secret of The Gift and destroy The Vicious Circle.
Fourteen-year-old Elle and her friends are going to a funfair. But a ride on the Ghost Train takes them further than they ever imagined. They end up in 1818, face-to-face with the criminal mastermind of The Vicious Circle – Millennia’s Leapling ancestor, The Grandfather!
To Elle’s surprise, he needs her expertise. Someone has threatened to reveal The Gift to the media. If that happens, no Leapling will be safe. Meanwhile, Millennia’s power grows.
Will Elle work for a villain to save her secret community? Can she and The Infinites crush The Vicious Circle for good?
Benjamin Zephaniah says Elle is curious, questioning and fearless. What an inspiration
MY favourite lines from the book page 31.
When it all gets too much in the future, I go underground. Underground is going to Ama and Kwesis’s subterranean house, which always makes me feel calm. Ama’s dad’s an architect and her mum is an eco-nomist so they designed their own home. From the 2030s more and more people commissioned their eco-homes and rather then build up, they built down. The houses are called eartheaters, the polar opposite of skyscrapers.
Thank you Canongate for sending me a proof copy to read and review.
About author Patience Agbabi

Patience Agbabi was born in London in 1965 to Nigerian parents, spent her teenage years living in North Wales and now lives in Kent with her husband and children. She has been writing poetry for over twenty years, and her first novel for children, The Infinite, the first in the Leap Cycle series, won a Wales Book of the Year Award. Like Elle, she loves sprinting, numbers and pepper soup, but, disappointingly, her leaping is less spectacular.
