They can’t see her but she can see them

Simone has a secret. She likes to stand at her bathroom window and spy on the couple downstairs through their kitchen skylight. She knows what they eat for breakfast and who they’ve got over for dinner. She knows what mood they’re in they can even step out the door. There’s nothing wrong with looking is there?

Until one day Simone sees something through the skylight she is not expecting. Something that upsets her so much she begins to plot a terrible crime.

MY REVIEW

Quick reads are supported by the reading agency. These quick reads are the perfect way to help readers that like reading, but without too many pages. Louise Candlish is one my favourite top authors. The books I have loved reading Our House, The Swimming Pool and The Only Suspect. I loved reading about Simone that spy’s on a couple through her bathroom window.

Part of page 36

It is two more mornings before she leaves for work earlier than him. As soon as I see her car pull away, I slip down to the hall and place an envelope on the doormat, as if it’s been posted through the letterbox. It is addressed to Mr G. Hunt. Inside is a piece of notepaper with one line printed on it:

Your wife is having an affair with the neighbour upstairs.

I’ve signed it, A friend.

About author Louise Candlish

A bit about me: I live in a South London neighbourhood not unlike the one in my books, with my husband, teenage daughter, and a fox-red Labrador called Bertie who is the apple of my eye. Books, TV and long walks are my passions – oh, and drinking wine in the sun with family and friends. My favourite authors include Tom Wolfe, Patricia Highsmith, Barbara Vine and Agatha Christie. For more book news (and doting pictures of Bertie, regularly updated!), catch me on http://www.louisecandlish.com Twitter louise_candlish or facebook.com/LouiseCandlishAuthor. I’d love to hear from you.
