Is her greatest fear that she will be hunted down, or that she will never be found?

MY REVIEW

Ever since I read Apple Tree Yard, and loved every page, I can always truly rely on Louise Doughty a 100% for the best page-turning thriller/fiction novel. I really liked how author Louise Doughty thought of the unusual name for a woman’s name Bird. At a very young age Bird seemed to be troubled by her life as a child growing up, in what she had gone through, with her mother and father leading almost separate lives. I think the thing that upset Bird was the most awful lies her father told. There’s nothing worse than being lied to. Years later Bird is on the run, she smart, avoiding CCTV cameras, making herself unrecognisable, using a burner phone, avoiding the ticket inspector. She’s heading to Scotland, to escape. Bird can’t risk getting arrested. There’s a shock for Bird, someone knows her burner phone number. These words haunt Bird, ‘He didn’t say we, he said they’! Being on the run, it seems Bird, doesn’t stay in one place too long. I was hooked into Bird’s story following every situation, that happens to her, during her travels. My favourite place Bird stayed in was Margate, because it’s not far from where I live. This story A Bird in Winter, is honestly an absolutely most enjoyable page-turner.
