A LINE TO KILL BY ANTHONY HOROWITZ

PAPERBACK PUBLISHED BY CENTURY 19th August 2021

There has never been a murder on the tiny island of Alderney.

But as writers gather for a brand new literary festival, a killer lies in wait.

As Island full of secrets is about to become an island full of suspects.

Private investigator David Hawthorne and the writer Anthony Horowitz, have been invited to the festival to talk about their new book. Very soon they discover that dark forces are at work.

Alderney is in turmoil over a planned power line that will cut through it, desecrating a war cemetery and turning neighbour against neighbour. And the visiting authors seem to be harbouring any number of unpleasant secrets.

When the festival’s wealthy sponsor is found brutally murdered, Alderney goes into lockdown and Hawthorne knows he doesn’t have to look too far for suspects.

There’s no escape. The killer is still on the island.

And there’s about to be a second death.

MY REVIEW

A Line to Kill by Anthony Horowitz is the brand new Detective Hawthorne mystery, where on a small island everyone’s a suspect. A line to Kill is the third in a series of crime novels starring Private Investigator Daniel Hawthorne, and follows on from The Word is Murder and The Sentence is Death.

Inside the novel A Line to Kill, to help readers find their way around the island of Alderney, there is a map at the front of the book, and 24 chapters in total.

I haven’t read a murder mystery before where the writer puts themselves into the story. I thought this story was really a clever idea from Author Anthony Horowitz as he writes himself in this murder mystery book that he has written.

Anthony Horowitz is always one step ahead with his skills in writing, and with adding himself in this story just goes to show how skilful Anthony Horowitz writing abilities are with ideas of plenty.

He created the teen spy Alex Rider series that I love reading and watching the TV series. He has also written for the TV series Midsomer Murders and Foyle’s War.
