Nazia Sami is a celebrated author, but perhaps her greatest plot twist is yet to be produced. In her final days, she wields a pen one last time as she fills her diary with instructions for her sister, Naureen, and writes six letters to be delivered after her death. There is to be no funeral for Nazia. Instead six invitees, one of whom is a mystery guest, are asked to attend a party. Over the course of an extraordinary evening, secrets are to be revealed, pasts reconsidered, and lives are forever changed.

MY REVIEW

I am one of those readers that love to explore reading fiction novels, about different cultures. It’s not often that I get to read a story on a Pakistani culture. After reading this page-turning family drama, new author Taha Kehar is now one my favourite, authors. For me what made this story a little special is the voices of different opinions. Maureen’s sister Nazia, wants her burial to be private and quiet. She didn’t want any of her friends to attend, but instead she wanted a farewell party. Maureen is happy to oblige her sister’s wishes. But Naureen’s husband, Asfand have been married for 28 years, thinks differently he wants Nazia to have a Muslim family funeral full event. After Nazia’s husband abandoned her, she had lots of affairs with many men, then she went to live with Naureen and her husband. Naureen a non smoker, starts to smoke her dead sister’s cigarettes. What is going to happen to Nazia’s new manuscript that she completed that she had submitted to her publisher. I was absolutely shocked when I discovered Asfand’s has been keeping a really big secret. Nothing seems to be straight forward there’s so much drama going on with, Nazia’s family, and Naureen, with her husband Asfand. This, sure is one of those stories that even after death, things come out of the woodworks. No Funeral For Nazia, by author Taha Kehar is the perfect must buy, must read novel, because it’s one novel no reader can ever forget. Now I can’t wait for this author’s second book that’s going to be about men friendships, which I do hope he will do some signings for.
